Our Story

Our story starts in a kitchen, with a hot pot of melting soy-wax and the humble intention to sell homemade candles to friends and family in our small-town community in McKinney, Texas.

That was back in 2017, but by 2019 Scents & More — a brand born from the desire of a first-generation Zimbabwean immigrant to live the American dream — had developed into a full-fledged home-fragrance manufacturer and a wellness product distributor and marketer that proudly bears the Minority Women-Owned label. With a combination of perseverance and passion, our business blossomed; we now ship products all over the nation to retail clients, wholesale vendors, and affiliates. This is the story of how we got here.

Our founder, Brenda Mwedziwendira, is a first-generation Zimbabwean immigrant who was juggling raising children and working, and was struggling to make ends meet from her day-job alone. She is a registered nurse with over 20 years experience in the medical field, and whilst the love for the job was there, the money wasn’t. Luckily, she struck gold one day in the form of an idea…to open a niche Pizza and Grill casual dining restaurant in Allen, Texas. The business was successful, and gave a taste of the entrepreneurial life which — with hard work — brings in enough money to raise a beautiful family without stressing about when the next pay-check is coming in. Pizzaroni Subs and Grill operated successfully for 2 years, but ultimately, the business faced growth challenges which led to its sale in 2017. The knowledge this experience provided was invaluable. “On to the next one”, our founder thought.

This is where the kitchen comes in: Brenda found success in selling candles to her community and the rapid increase in sales and expansion outside of McKinney to across the state made her realize she could do a lot more in the home fragrance and wellness sphere than she currently was. Brenda’s decision to expand in 2019, just before COVID hit, meant Scents & More was established around a time when everybody turned their focus to wellness, relaxation, and essentially any way to make your home a haven. This translated into success for us, and now we are in the process of transforming our brand’s portfolio by developing and incorporating innovative products to serve the broader natural-living and wellness consumer markets.

Brenda couldn’t have done it all alone. Our co-founder, and Brenda’s loving husband, Peter, has 35 years of experience in business, start-ups, and international trade, and has been an indispensable sidekick throughout the process of our growth. His knowledge has allowed for skillful navigation of the business world and continued success.

We work to fill the gaps in this market-niche by offering multi-tiered wellness and functional brands with a focus on incredible products that aid in holistic lifestyles.

Currently, our repertoire includes brands in Plant-Based and Botanical Skincare products, Herbal Wellness and Functional Tea products,Superfoods and Natural Supplements for ,Natural Home Fragrance products and Post Work-Out Recovery products.

Every single one of our products is handcrafted in small batch production in the USA using only the highest quality, ethically sourced ingredients. We are proud of the time and dedication poured into our research and development, and we have established a versatile supply-chain partnership with FDA certified vendors to acquire ingredients that are natural and supported by modern science. Importantly, our sustainable packaging puts the environment first.
